January 2006 Edition
Message from the CEO
The beginning of the year is good time to take stock not only of what we have achieved in the past, but of what we plan to accomplish in the future. As a result, I'd like to share with you Continuous Computing's vision and strategy for 2006 and beyond.
Our number one goal is to become the industry's leading provider of Network Service-Ready Platforms and building blocks that enable Telecom Equipment Manufacturers (TEMs) to deploy converged communications. These converged communications are becoming more and more of a reality every day with the coming implementation of IP Multimedia Subystems (IMS), which we discussed in last month's newsletter. Indeed, as the market makes large-scale changes to accommodate the enhanced offerings and multimedia applications that IMS supports in traditional circuit-switched and next generation packet-switched networks, the role of Network Service-Ready Platforms and of the building blocks that support TEMs' application-level value-add will become increasingly important. Why? Because they will speed the creation and delivery of services in an application-hungry market that demands extreme end user flexibility — all at reduced costs.
To become the best total solution provider for TEMs, Continuous Computing is dedicated to optimizing its engineering, sales, and manufacturing capabilities. We are also committed to qualifying and integrating only best-in-class third-party components and complying with important industry-affecting initiatives such as Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directives. In addition, we encourage our customers to tap into our Professional Services so that we can better understand their requirements and assist in the integration of complete solutions that will meet and exceed all technology needs throughout the lifecycle of their programs.
In 2006, we are dedicated to doing everything we can to achieve these goals. But more importantly, we know that doing so will facilitate not only the success of our customers, but our own success as well. After all, it's only through true alliance partnerships that today's telecom companies can both survive and thrive.

New Shanghai Office
Continuous Computing recently opened a new office in Shanghai, China. At 118 square meters (over 1000 square feet) and containing a conference room and a field engineering laboratory, the new space is almost five times as large as the old one. The new facility is located in the Westgate Mall CBD area on West Nanjing Road — one of the most famous central business areas in Shanghai which attracts many Fortune 500 companies. As we continue to grow in the Asia Pacific region, the Shanghai office will serve us very well and allow for a more comfortable working environment for our Chinese employees, partners, and customers.
 Recent Events and Speaking Engagements
Last month, Continuous Computing attended the AdvancedTCA Summit in San Jose, California, where Principal Architect Chuck Hill presented an overview of ATCA in the lead-off session and also gave a talk about Media Gateways and ATCA. Continuous Computing also attended Light Reading's Live IMS event ("Blueprint for an Application Revolution") in London, England. Both shows were highly successful industry events that focused on new applications and technologies, and the platforms required to support them. Furthermore, Continuous Computing's Director of Product Marketing, Neeraj Patel, recently spoke at Informa's IMS Conference in Dallas, Texas on tracking the infrastructure evolution path to IMS and IMS core vender architecture.
